Joe Ceci is a proud Calgarian who was re-elected in 2023 for his third term in the provincial legislature. Currently Joe serves as Shadow Minister for Arts and Culture.
Beyond his role as an MLA, Joe is well-known for dedicating more than 30 years of service to strengthening Calgary’s communities and citizens, and was elected as a City of Calgary Alderman from 1995-2010. After 15 years as an Alderman, he became a public policy manager with Momentum Community Economic Development.
From 2015 to 2019, Joe served as Alberta’s Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board, where he played a key role in shaping provincial fiscal policy during challenging economic times.
Joe has received multiple awards in recognition of his devotion to the City of Calgary, including:
• Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal
• Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal
• The King’s Coronation Medal
• Alberta Centennial Medal

Voting eligibility
In order to be eligible to vote in a nomination, members must be in good standing and must meet both the length of membership requirement and the residency requirement, as set by the Alberta NDP constitution. Julia Hayter and David Eggen will be joining us and sharing about their time in the legislature and what is happening over the summer and into the fall. Afterwards we will have a time of socializing and celebrations of our success.
This is a great opportunity to learn about the work we have been doing to win the next election and meet the folks who are letting their names stand for positions on the Executive and Members at Large. The board is responsible for organizing all the Alberta NDP activities to prepare for the next election campaign, ranging from connecting with voters, hosting social events, recruiting volunteers and raising money.
If you’re new to party politics, and want to get more involved, this is a great place to start, and we are always looking for more help.
All supporters are welcome at this family friendly event, but to vote or run for the Executive (President, Treasurer, Vice President etc.) and join the board you must hold an active Alberta NDP membership.
